Racing News: American Le Mans Joins IndyCar for Baltimore Grand Prix in 2011

BALTIMORE WELCOMES YOU: The American Le Mans Series will join
the IZOD IndyCar Series on the streets of Baltimore, Maryland, for the first
running of the Baltimore Grand Prix next year during Labor Day weekend.

THE BIG GO: Larry Dixon (Top Fuel), Ashley Force Hood (Funny Car), Greg Stanfield (Pro Stock) and L.E. Tonglet (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were victorious during the 56th running of the NHRA Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Clermont, Indiana, Monday.

WELCOME BACK: Racing returned to North Wilkesboro (North Carolina) Speedway for the first time since 1996 Saturday. Chase Elliott, son of NASCAR champion Bill Elliott, won the Pro All Stars Series South late-model Labor Day Classic at the historic venue.

SHUTTERED: Wall (New Jersey) Stadium was suddenly shut down last week when the promoter Jim Morton failed to reach a new lease agreement with the track ownership group.

HILLBILLY RICH:
Scott Bloomquist bagged a $42,000 payday by winning the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Hillbilly Hundred at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, West Virginia, Sunday.

SETTLED: The SFI Foundation Inc. and Impact Racing have settled their dispute in relation to a decertification order that was filed in March and subsequent lawsuits filed thereafter.

LAYOUT REVEALED: The layout of the proposed track in Austin, Texas, that is scheduled to hold the United States Grand Prix in 2012 was revealed last week. It is a 3.4-mile, 20-turn circuit with several turns mirroring historic Formula One venues.

VEGAS BOUND: NASCAR Champion’s Week will return to Las Vegas again this season. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Awards Ceremony is scheduled for December 3 at Wynn Las Vegas.

RETURN:
Dyson Racing will return to the Grand Am Rolex Series Daytona Prototype division this weekend at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. Davy Jones and John McCutchen II will drive a Ford Lola for the team Saturday.
