NEW NAME: Officials from Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas, have signed Royal Purple to a multi-year title sponsorship agreement. The track will be known as Royal Purple Raceway beginning in 2011.
DOUBLE THE FUN: For the first time in IZOD IndyCar Series history, drivers will compete in two individual races on the same day. The event at Texas Motor Speedway will be called the Firestone Twin 275s and consist of two full-field, 275-km races with two race winners being crowned next season.
PURCHASED: CV Products has purchased certain assets of HutchBSR, a longtime supplier of racing components.
SO LONG: International Speedway Corp. Chief Operating Officer Roger VanDerSnick was laid off by the company last week. It was the first in what is expected to be many layoffs by the company in the coming weeks.
FIXING THE HEART: NASCAR driver Brian Vickers recently underwent heart surgery to repair a tiny hole between the atria in his heart. Vickers is sitting out the remainder of the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule because of a blood-clotting disorder.
NEW DATES: Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, and Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois, will host two NASCAR Nationwide Series events next season.
