|Join the kids of Childhelp and Victory Junction in building pinewood cars for this summer's Pinewood Drag Races.|
Everyone’s getting into the pinewood racing spirit these days, and now you can too. SEMA invites all industry professionals to join the children of Childhelp and Victory Junction Gang Camp for three days of building cars to race in this summer’s Pinewood Drag Races, held in conjunction with the 2010 SEMA Installation Banquet & Gala Fundraiser, July 23–24, at the Pasadena Convention Center, Pasadena, California.
On Saturday, May 1, join the children of Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, North Carolina, for a day of crafting cars. Or if you’re near Southern California a week later, Saturday, May 8, stop in at Childhelp Village in Beaumont, California, where kids will be sanding, painting and assembling cars for the third annual races from 9:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Finally, on Saturday, May 22, the kids at Childhelp Village in Lignum, Virginia, will be building cars during two sessions, one from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., then again after lunch from 12:45 p.m.–4:30 p.m. Feel free to join for lunch and stay as long as you’re able.
For the Randleman event, contact Eric Saltrick of Steele Rubber Products and Pinewood Drag Races committee member at: firstname.lastname@example.org .
Those interested in the Beaumont event can contact Cindy Booher at: email@example.com or 909/978-6706.
Pinewood Drag Races committee member Tom Brooks, of Truckin Thunder, will handle coordination for the Lignum event. Contact him at: firstname.lastname@example.org or 804/543-4231.
Want to get involved but can't make it to one of the build days? For less than $100, you can sponsor a pinewood dragster and even have a "driver" assigned to your team if you can't attend the races in Pasadena.
The Pinewood Drag Races are one of several SEMA summer fundraising events, which also includes the Show 'N Shine car show and the Installation Banquet & Gala Fundraiser. Proceeds from the activities benefit Childhelp and Victory Junction charities.
