1-in-4 Specialty Equipment Products Sold at Chain Stores


The August edition of the SEMA Consumer Demand Index is now available at This month’s index is 42, down from 57 in July.

Some highlights of the August CDI include:

  • 11% of adult American drivers indicated plans to purchase aftermarket products within the next three months
  • Over the last three months, full-size cars were the most-common accessorized vehicle type at 19%
  • Over the last three months, chain auto parts stores were the most popular place-of-purchase choice for specialty-equipment products, at 24%
