FULLER AND BECKMAN AMONG DENVER WINNERS: Rod Fuller raced to his second victory of the season at scenic Bandimere Speedway near Denver and in the process extended his lead in the POWERade Series Countdown to the Championship point standings. Fuller outran teammate Whit Bazemore in the Top Fuel final, while other Denver winners included Jack Beckman in Funny Car, Allen Johnson in Pro Stock and Matt Smith in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

SAM HORNISH JR. TO MOVE TO NASCAR NEXTEL CUP NEXT SEASON AND OTHER RACING NEWS

ON THE MOVE: It seems likely that three-time IndyCar Series champion Sam Hornish Jr. will move to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series next season. Hornish will not change teams, simply move from Penske Racing’s Indy-car operation to its stock-car team. All Penske Racing teams are housed in the same North Carolina facility. “The league has not said two words to me about it,” Hornish said. “You feel like they don’t need you sometimes.”
