INJURED: 14-time NHRA Funny Car champion John Force was seriously injured in a crash Sunday at the Texas Motorplex. Force, who received six hours of reconstructive surgery Sunday night on his feet, legs and hands, was already undergoing physical therapy on Monday. Force suffered a compound fracture of the left ankle, a deep laceration of the right knee down to the bone, broken fingers and lacerations on the right hand and a dislocated left wrist that originally was diagnosed as a dislocation and break.

CANCELLED: The Champ Car World Series round scheduled for the streets of Phoenix, Arizona, December 2, was officially cancelled after organizers could not generate enough corporate support to hold the event.
CHANGES: The Indy Car Series is planning several changes for its series and cars next year, including the introduction of a paddle-shift system and the possible implementation of power steering for road-racing events.
KTC Media Group announced that Lawson Mollica has joined the marketing, creative and production company’s ranks as vice president of business development. Mollica was previously the marketing manager for Advanced Engine Management Inc. (AEM). In his new role, Mollica is responsible for creating new accounts and working with existing clients to fully capitalize on their marketing and public relations efforts.

HEAD WEST: The Champ Car World Series has announced a return to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca next season. The event does not add a race to the schedule, as it will replace the San Jose Grand Prix, which has run in the streets of San Jose the past two years. A date for the race has not been announced.
Creative Material Technologies Ltd. hired Bob Motyka to the company’s marketing team. In addition to his marketing role, Motyka will also provide application training for the company nationwide.
