Market Forces and Technology May Change the Shape of the Industry
The wheel and tire market has improved over the past year, according to a widely held consensus among professionals in the automotive specialty-equipment industry. New offerings, technology and an improving economy bode well for sales in 2015, but there are also impediments that may deflate some of the optimism.
A Wave of New Tire Products Hits the 2014 SEMA Show
Held in conjunction with the recent 2014 SEMA Show, the annual Global Tire Expo (GTE)—Powered by the Tire Industry Association (TIA)—continued its reputation as a world-class “show within a show,” highlighting the tire niche’s tremendous significance within the automotive specialty-equipment marketplace.
The term “engaging the customer” has been diluted with attention, but it’s more than a buzzword or concept; it’s the most important activity in a business. The definition of engage is “to bind by a promise.” Real engagement is about commitments and obligations. Interesting that Webster’s Dictionary defines engagement as “an arrangement to go somewhere”—to go somewhere like a business, a service outlet or a place to buy products.
A Message From TIA Executive Vice President
On behalf of the Tire Industry Association (TIA), welcome to the 2013 Global Tire Expo—Powered by TIA. GTE continues to be the largest gathering of the tire industry in North America. From discovering new products to networking, I hope that you will take advantage of all the opportunities that GTE has to offer.
We are excited that the Global Tire Expo has experienced overwhelming growth this year and are pleased to welcome many new exhibitors. We continue to work with our valuable partner SEMA to ensure this year’s show will be a tremendous success.
For SEMA’s Wheel and Tire Council (WTC), 2011 was a year marked by change and fueled by opportunity. In February, the council hosted an interactive conference in conjunction with its annual Long-Range Planning meeting at the SEMA offices in Diamond Bar, California. Learn & Show, as it was called, provided manufacturers with the opportunity to showcase their products to a local audience comprised of retailers, wholesale distributors and media.
