MPMC will be hosting three educational seminars at the Performance Racing Industry show this December in Indianapolis. The popular sessions cover a variety of motorsports industry topics and typically pack the house.
The Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) members have a busy winter season ahead. Just weeks after the SEMA Show, MPMC members will be packing their bags for Indianapolis for a week full of exhibiting, customer meetings, networking and MPMC-sponsored educational seminars at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show in Indianapolis, December 7–9, 2017.
MPMC is a SEMA council that is composed of companies that manufacture motorsports parts and are dedicated to the longevity of the sport. The council offers its membership solutions and opportunities to help grow their businesses and stay current on trends. All MPMC members and those who are interested in learning more are encouraged to attend the following events during PRI week.
General Membership Meeting
A general membership meeting will be held from 2:00 p.m.–3:30 p.m., Thursday, December 7, to update MPMC members on current and ongoing council initiatives. The meeting will serve as a great opportunity to meet the select committee and learn how to become more involved. The select committee is particularly interested in sharing its strategic plan with the membership.
Manufacturers and Sanctioning Body Discussion
A unique educational session will feature a moderated discussion between motorsports manufacturers and a panel of official representatives from major sanctioning bodies. For the second year, representatives from ARCA, NASCAR, Formula Drift and the ProMedia NMRA/NMCA series will discuss topics such as the vision and direction of their series as well as opportunities and challenges for marketing and communication with MPMC-member manufacturers.
Alan Reinhart, NHRA and Fox Sports announcing celebrity, will once again moderate the discussion.
Don’t miss this insightful session, which will take place from 2:00 p.m.–3:30 p.m., Thursday, December 7. The session is open to motorsports parts manufacturers only.
How to Prepare Sponsorship Proposals
When motorsports companies begin their strategic marketing forecasts for the year, event sponsorships are a large factor. Companies may be asking themselves: Which events should I be a part of? What opportunities should I jump on? How do I negotiate maximum exposure within my budget? The session on preparing sponsorship proposals will take place from 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m., Friday, December 8.
Rules of the Road for Motor-sports Haulers, Number Four
There are numerous state and federal regulations that apply to motorsports parts manufacturers’ operations and distinguish between a hobby or a taxable, fee-paying business. A panel of experts with extensive experience in navigating the myriad regulations of hauling race cars and equipment will lend clarity to common misconceptions or issues businesses may be currently facing, and the panelists will answer any questions attendees may have. This popular session, moderated by Alan Reinhart, will take place from 2:00 p.m.–3:30 p.m., Friday, December 8.
The Fight to Save Motorsports Isn’t Over
The future of motorsports remains in jeopardy! In order to protect our right to race now and in the future, SEMA’s allies in the U.S. Congress introduced the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2017 (RPM Act) in both the U.S. House and Senate. The RPM Act is a bipartisan bill that protects Americans’ right to modify street vehicles into dedicated race cars and the industry’s right to sell the parts that enable racers to compete.
The MPMC thanks fellow industry members, hobbyists and race fans around the country for their efforts to support the RPM Act. Many of them have sent letters to their members of Congress, urging them to stand behind the RPM Act with their support. Tens of thousands of letters have been sent, resulting in more than 160 co-sponsors for the bill in the House and Senate combined, and the number is growing every day.
We urge SEMA members to bring that energy to their storefronts, websites and garages and mobilize their customers into action to protect the sport they love. Informational content is available at www.sema.org/rpmtools.
Encourage your staff as well as customers to act and add to the momentum that the industry has already gained by signing the RPM Act support letter at www.sema.org/rpm.
Hall of Fame Industry Reception
Join the MPMC as it honors and immortalizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the motorsports industry through their life’s work by inducting them into the MPMC Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is the most prestigious award the council presents.
The MPMC’s reception serves as a wonderful opportunity to close out the PRI Trade Show with an evening of networking with industry friends and colleagues. Enjoy hot hors d’oeuvres and drinks while mingling with the MPMC select committee and this year’s Hall of Fame inductees.
The reception will take place from 5:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m., Friday, December 8, at the Indiana Convention Center.
