ARMO at the SEMA Show

By Katie Carson

The Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) is set to host engaging events throughout the week of the SEMA Show, October 31–November 3, in Las Vegas. ARMO serves the automotive restoration aftermarket industry through programs and resources to advance the industry and improve how member companies operate daily. There will be plenty of opportunities for ARMO members to connect and for those looking to become members of the council to engage with council leadership and learn more about the organization.

Visit ARMO in Central Hall All Week

ARMO and the Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) will be hosting a shared booth space located in Central Hall, booth #23395. Because ARMO and HRIA have a lot of crossover in council membership, the shared space works well for collaboration between council members. The booth will display six feature vehicles—three from the hot-rod segment and three from the restoration segment. Two of the feature vehicles will start the SEMA Show covered and will be unveiled at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 31, attracting media coverage and attendee attention. You don’t want to miss those cars.

ARMO select-committee members and SEMA staff will be in the booth throughout the Show. The booth provides a perfect opportunity for attendees to stop by and ask questions regarding ARMO membership and how you or your company can get more involved. The booth is commonly referred to as Central Park because the seating areas act as a great place to rest your feet and network with industry friends in a location that anchors the intersection of the Restoration Marketplace and Hot Rod Alley sections of the Show floor.

Restoration Builder’s Panel

The Restoration Builder’s Panel education seminar will feature well-known restoration builders discussing best business practices and how they have made careers out of their passion. Restoration builders, professionals, shop owners and enthusiasts are encouraged to attend this interactive discussion. Bring questions or challenges that your business is currently facing, as the builders will engage the audience and answer their questions.

ARMO Reception

Join ARMO for an evening celebrating the membership and the leading companies and individuals in the automotive restoration industry. ARMO will be hosting its annual awards reception on Tuesday, October 31. All ARMO members are encouraged to attend for dinner, beverages and networking. An awards presentation will announce the winners of the ARMO Person of the Year and the ARMO Business of the Year.

The new-product award winners from the ARMO Hot Products Showcase will also be recognized during the reception, so the evening promises to be the premier networking opportunity of the year for the restoration segment. The event will start after the close of the first day of the SEMA Show, October 31, at 5:00 p.m. in Westgate Conference Rooms 7–14.

This year’s complete list of panelists was still being finalized at press time, but E.J. Fitzgerald of Cool Hand Customs had confirmed that he will be back for his second year. Past panelists include Jim and Mike Ring, Tim Strange, Bodie Stroud and Chris Ryan. The organizers expect several past panelists as well as one or two new participants to round out yet another unique opportunity for attendees to hear firsthand accounts of what worked and maybe what didn’t from accomplished builders.

ARMO General Membership Meeting

Kickstart your Thursday morning of the SEMA Show with a continental breakfast and meaningful conversation at the ARMO general membership meeting. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 1, in Westgate Conference Rooms 4–6. The hour-long meeting will run from 8:00 a.m.–9:00 a.m., but if you are an early riser, breakfast will be available at 7:30 a.m.

Come early and take advantage of some one-on-one opportunities with the select committee and fellow ARMO members. The select committee will provide updates on council initiatives and resources available to help your business. The format will also focus on providing members with updates on what the council is doing and soliciting feedback from members on challenges and opportunities in the current marketplace.

Be sure to catch the vehicle unveilings in the ARMO/HRIA booth at the SEMA Show at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31.
