The Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) installed two new industry members onto its select committee at the 2016 SEMA Installation and Banquet. The council also welcomed back three incumbents to serve their second terms with the select committee. These elected individuals will serve during the 2016–2018 term and will play a crucial role in moving the council toward its initiatives to better the restyling industry.

Incumbent Dave Edmondson of Roadwire was re-elected to the committee. “I am honored to again have been elected by my peers,” he said. “Over a span of 10 years, the increasing SEMA committee involvement of Roadwire Inc. and its subsidiaries, Roadwire Leather Interiors, Distinctive Industries, Classic Soft Trim and Signature Sunroofs, has proven to increase sales and our industry exposure. We have certainly seen the value of giving back to our ever-changing industry, and we remain informed and educated of new opportunities and best practices through our active SEMA involvement and networking with other industry leaders and SEMA-member companies. I look forward to continuing my service to SEMA and its members.”

Ginger Glover of Truckers Toy Store Inc. was also re-elected to the committee. “I am honored to be re-elected,” she said. “I look forward to serving my third term and feel that it is important to voice my concerns about the issues that we all face going forward. I am excited about this year and the years beyond that. When I started in this industry 16 years ago, I had no idea that I would be serving on the PRO committee. It was all I could do to learn this industry, and I continue today learning that it is ever changing and extremely fast-paced. I will do my very best to represent fellow members.”

Kimberly Callahan of The Insignia Group was the third incumbent who was re-elected to the select committee. During her time in PRO, she has served on task forces for the seat certificate program, the sales training certificate program and the PRO reception. “The members of PRO are diverse, yet we all share the same level of passion and commitment to providing consumer education,” Callahan said. “I’m grateful to have the opportunity to serve another term on the PRO select committee, and it’s an honor to be working with such a great group of individuals.”

SEMA Member News caught up with new committee members BJ Leanse of IDDEA California LLC and Bill North of Katzkin Leather Inc. to find out what motivated them to volunteer.

SEMA Member News: Why do you feel that it is important to serve on the select committee?

Bill North: The select committee represents the collective interest of restylers, manufacturers and the dealerships that prosper from what we do. Having a unified voice can help to help defend us from issues that may hinder our growth from OEMs.

BJ Leanse: The select committee is where the water meets the wheel. This is where members in our market niches can get involved and make a difference. PRO is fueled by very talented, knowledgeable people who have a passion for what we do, and it is exciting to be a part of that.

SMN: What is most exciting to you about the council?

BN: I served on the select committee for six years, from 2002–2008, so I look forward to catching up with friends with whom I served previously and helping with opportunities to grow our industry.

BJL: The long-range planning meetings are the most exciting part of council work, because we can come together with all our different experiences and brainstorm and tackle our common problems, opportunities and goals.

SMN: What are your goals, and how might your experience benefit the council?

BN: My experience gives me the ability to consider and appreciate the perspectives of the best restylers in the business and look at things objectively. Having dealt directly with many OEMs, I have no problem relaying this experience to help PRO.

BJL: I hope to add to this process with my experience and knowledge and work with this team of great people to create, develop and deliver benefits for our members.
