SCORE Brings Top Desert Racers to 2014 SEMA Show

SCORE International will bring the excitement of its legendary Baja 1000 to the 2014 SEMA Show, November 4–7, through its signature off-road activities and attractions. The outdoor, 70,000-sq.-ft. SCORE Baja 1000 Experience will feature a desert-racing exhibit with dozens of Baja 1000 Trophy Truck and Class 1 race vehicles. An interactive pit competition area, exhibits from leading off-road companies, video streams of SCORE Dirt Live through SCOREvision and autograph sessions are just some of the attractions visitors can expect come Show time.

’15 Ford Mustang, F-150 CAD Data Available

Ford Motor Co. has made CAD information available for the ’15 Mustang and F-150. The data is accessible to SEMA manufacturing members who are subscribed to the SEMA Technology Transfer program. The program, which was established more than 10 years ago to help manufacturers minimize or eliminate reverse engineering for production, is available for $360 per year. Other OEMs that are part of the program include Chrysler, General Motors and Scion.

Launch Pad Competition Returns for 2014

The SEMA Launch Pad competition, in which automotive innovators under the age of 40 showcase their business plans for marketing a product or service, has returned for 2014. Last year’s inaugural winner was Jonathan Mill for the E-Stopp, a pushbutton emergency brake and anti-theft device for custom vehicles. For the 2014 competition, the top 10 competitors will gather votes through the SEMA Facebook/YouTube voting platform. The top five individuals will then receive invitations to pitch their business ideas during a special event in front of an industry-fueled crowd at the 2014 SEMA Show.

New SEMA Report Uncovers UTV Purchase Patterns

According to a SEMA study on the utility task vehicle (UTV) market, nearly 82% of UTV owners have purchased or plan to purchase equipment upgrades for their vehicles. This means that 410,000 households in the United States buy UTV accessories, with the average enthusiast spending $1,700 on parts.
