SEMA’s councils and networks have announced the dates and locations of their 2016 SEMA Show events.
The SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN) is proud to announce two new additions and two returning veterans to the select committee. The individuals elected have experience that spans many facets of the automotive industry.
The SEMA Businesswoman Network will host their highly anticipated Gear-up Girl networking event for the 5th time at the 2016 SEMA Show. The Gear-up Girl event is designed to connect female students who hold aspirations of a career within the automotive aftermarket industry to influential female industry leaders.
The event will take place Monday, October 31, from 3:30pm-5:00pm. All SBN members are encouraged to join us for snacks and beverages as we engage with today’s youth and tomorrow’s workforce.
Advanced vehicle technologies leading today’s Golden Age of New Performance and Mobility are creating many new and exciting business opportunities as well as careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) that did not exist in the industry just five years ago. This session will feature accomplished racer, mentor and coach Lyn St. James, and one of today’s fastest next-gen racers and rising stars, Julia Landauer. Lyn and Julia will address the industry’s talent crisis and offer frontline insights for winning and bridging the skills gap between technology and racing through recruitment, retention and advancement of women in the industry.
This education event will take place Wednesday, November 2, from 10:15am-11:00am, located in LVCC Room N253.
In this program you’ll learn about the power differential—the effect of gender-based listening modes, subtle differences in everything from smiles and eye contact to space and touching, and the new rules of business etiquette for old standards like handshakes and greetings and pats on the back. Body Politics is an eye-opening, ear-widening, “Aha!” experience.
This educational event will take place Wednesday, November 2, from 1:00pm-2:00pm, located in LVCC Room N253.
The SEMA Businesswoman Network is hosting a reception at the 2016 SEMA Show. We invite current SBN members and aspiring members to gather together for an evening of networking with fellow women in the industry. The event will feature a sommelier introducing wines with unique pairings. Members of the Select Committee will be on hand to mingle and answer any questions about the network.
The reception will be held Wednesday, November 2, from 5:00pm-7:00pm, in the Westgate Ballroom E.

The SBN is hosting a General Membership conference call on July 20 at 10:00 am PST. It’s your chance to hear about the exciting events the SBN has planned, an opportunity to share your opinion and learn about how you can volunteer with the Network.
SEMA’s Young Executives Network (YEN) is gearing up for its annual participation in the Hot Rod Power Tour. For the past two years, 10 YEN members have embarked on the Hot Rod Power Tour—an epic, week-long, cross-country journey that generates awareness of the hobby and industry.
More than 500 women professionals in the automotive aftermarket industry belong to the SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN). The women of the SBN are a dynamic group of individuals who are passionate about the advancement of women in the industry. The network provides members with programs and opportunities for personal growth. One of the network’s main initiatives is to reach out to the younger generation and act as mentors.
