NHRA: Schumacher and Force Still Looking for First Wins of 2011

SCHUMACHER AND FORCE STILL LOOKING FOR FIRST WINS OF 2011:
As the
NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series heads to Bristol Dragway this week
for the Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by Tri-Cities Area
Ford Dealers, many drivers are riding a wave of race victories. Top
Fuel points leader Del Worsham has three event wins in his first full
season behind the wheel of the Al-Anabi dragster. Second-place Spencer
Massey is coming off of consecutive wins in Topeka, Kansas, and
Englishtown, New Jersey. In Funny Car, Mike Neff has raced to two wins
and is enjoying a run of four consecutive final-round appearances, and
teammate Robert Hight has three wins already. And yet while so many
drivers are experiencing strong success in 2011, some of the biggest
names and former NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series world champions
have yet to earn their first wins of the season. One is seven-time Top
Fuel world champion Tony Schumacher.

Racing News: NMRA/NMCA West Coast Shootout Event Update; MOTUL Celebrates Relationship With Le Mans 



NMRA/NMCA West Coast Shootout Event Update 


The Inaugural JE Pistons NMRA/NMCA West Coast Shootout, presented by
Lucas Oil, is all set to go at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana,
California, July 8–10, 2011. Because of recent noise restrictions
imposed upon the track, NMRA/NMCA will not be able to run Pro Street and
Outlaw 10.5—classes previously planned; however, the rest of the
classes can run as long as all competitors have mufflers on their
vehicles for the entirety of the event. NMRA and NMCA will showcase Hot
Street, Xtreme Drag Radial, Wild Street, Open Comp, Mustang Madness,
RASR True Street Challenge, West Coast Shootout, Sportsman Brackets, and
Street Brackets racing down the quarter-mile. 

There also will be a
special Racers Against Street Racing (RASR) True Street Challenge class
that will run on Saturday, July 9.

Torchmate Racing SuperLite Driver Dawson Kirchner Puts Truck in First Place
The Torchmate SuperLite Championship Truck driven by Dawson Kirchner
went all the way to first place last Sunday at the sixth round of the
Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Round at Glen Helen Raceway in San
Bernardino, California. Kirchner started out the weekend with the
fastest lap time in practice on Friday. Saturday was no different when
the Torchmate truck took the fastest qualifying time. On Sunday, the
SuperLite Torchmate Truck hit the track with authority at practice where
Dawson Kirchner again led the pack with fastest lap time. This time,
his qualifying position would pay off, putting him on the pole position
of Sundays SuperLite Main event. After the awards ceremony on Sunday,
Kirchner handed over his first place trophy to Jeff “OX” Kargola’s
younger brother Tanner Huffer. SuperLite Championship displayed the
Kargola truck in his memory at the Glen Helen race. The Torchmate
SuperLite Truck will be at Miller Motorsports Park in Toole, Utah, June
25–26 for rounds 7 and 8 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.

Racing News: John Force Racing Brownsburg Shop Open This Saturday; Quarter Mile Foundation to Help Vintage Drag-Car Restorers

John Force Racing Brownsburg Shop Open This Saturday
On the eve of the centennial Indianapolis 500, more than half a dozen of
the premier motorsports race shops in Brownsburg, Indiana, will be open
to the public from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. The 5th annual Open House event
on May 28 will include John Force Racing, Tony Pedregon Racing, Don
Schumacher Racing, Morgan Lucas Racing and many more. At John Force
Racing, fans can tour the 150,000-sq.-ft. shop and see a number of Ford
Mustang Funny Cars, trailers and shop machines. Also, fans can see the
Eric Medlen Tribute Room and the John Force Racing museum. The shop tour
is free and 15-time Funny Car champion John Force, 2009 Funny Car
champion and recent Summer Nationals winner Robert Hight, along with
Full Throttle Funny Car points leader Mike Neff and rising star Courtney
Force, will be in attendance signing autographs at 11:00 a.m.

NHRA: Brown, Beckman Get Second Wins of Season in Atlanta

BROWN, BECKMAN GET SECOND WINS OF SEASON IN ATLANTA:
In one of the
most exciting Top Fuel finals this season, Antron Brown held off fellow
Don Schumacher Racing teammate Tony Schumacher en route to his second
win of the season Sunday at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern
Nationals. Brown’s Matco Tools Dragster posted a 3.865-second run that
was just enough to keep the seven-time world champion Schumacher from
collecting his first Atlanta Dragway win—the only track on the NHRA Full
Throttle schedule where he hasn’t won.

2010 WORLD CHAMPS LOOK FOR FIRST WINS OF SEASON AS NHRA FULL THROTTLE SERIES HEADS TO HOUSTON:

As the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing season makes its fifth stop on
the 22-race season, the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals at
Royal Purple Raceway in Houston, many well known drivers, including
three of the four 2010 world champions, are still looking for their
first wins of the season. Defending Top Fuel world champion Larry Dixon
came within inches of taking home his first Wally Trophy of 2011 just
two weeks ago at the VisitMyrtleBeach.com NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in
Charlotte, but it was Dixon’s teammate Del Worsham who hoisted the
trophy in the Winner’s Circle, his second of the season.

WORSHAM GETS SECOND WIN OF THE SEASON; BECKMAN, ANDERSON GRAB FIRST SEASON WINS IN CHARLOTTE:
Del Worsham proved once again that he’s a force to be reckoned with in
2011 as he powered his Al-Anabi Racing dragster past teammate and
defending world champion Larry Dixon, Spencer Massey and Shawn Langdon
in the final round of Top Fuel at the VisitMyrtleBeach.com NHRA
Four-Wide Nationals Sunday in Charlotte to pick up his second win of the
season. Worsham’s 3.813-second run was just enough to hold off Dixon’s
3.821 run on the final pass of the day at zMAX Dragway; it not only
secured the win, but strengthened his points lead over the class.

just three races complete in the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing
season, drivers and crew chiefs prepare for one of the most exciting and

VisitMyrtleBeach.com NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at the impressive zMAX
Dragway in North Carolina. An estimated 28,000 hp will hit the
track this weekend at the only four-wide national event on the NHRA Full
Throttle schedule, and many drivers are ready to rise above the
competition and grab the pewter Wally.
