Western Europe Prospects For U.S. Specialty Products

About this product:

United States specialty product suppliers can succeed with marketing and sales efforts in the vast—168 million registered vehicles—European market. But given the differences in the European marketplace in terms of vehicle mix, consumer preferences and government regulation, it is not enough for American companies to simply ship merchandise primarily
designed for U.S. vehicles to outlets in Europe, sit back and expect volume sales on a scale comparable to that which is established in the States. For some companies, those with appropriate products and applications, Europe is and could increasingly become a lucrative sales arena. (For the purposes of this report, the following countries are included in the definition of Western Europe: the fifteen EU countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom; plus Iceland, Norway and Switzerland.)

European Union - EU - Automotive Framework Legislation

About this product:

This market research report covers regulatory requirements applicable to cars and car components to be exported to the European Union (EU) based on the new Motor Vehicle Framework Directive 2007/46/EC (MVFD). The recently adopted MVFD takes an important step towards further regulatory harmonization and broadens the scope of existing legislation, extending approval requirements to nearly all road vehicles. Its changes do not immediately enter into force; instead, a phased-in enforcement period exists, stretching from April 2009 to October 2014 depending on the category of vehicle in question. In the meantime, existing directive 70/156/EEC and amendments remain in force.
