Thanks to the efforts of the Specialty Vehicle Association of British Columbia (SVABC), the province of British Columbia issued a proclamation designating July 12, 2014 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day” in the province.
Collector Car Appreciation Day
On July 12, SEMA members, SEMA staff and thousands of enthusiasts across the United States celebrated the fourth annual Collector Car Appreciation Day. A wide range of official events were also held in Canada and Australia to commemorate the day, designated by SEMA-requested U.S. Senate Resolution 176, which was sponsored by Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) and Sen. Richard
The U.S. Senate Resolution recognized “that the collection and restoration of historic and classic cars is an important part of preserving the technological achievements and cultural heritage of the United States.” Lawmakers in states, counties and local areas all over the country and Canada followed the Senate’s lead. The states of New York and New Mexico as well as the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Nova Scotia adopted their own resolutions commemorating the day.
SEMA Action Network Seeks Unified Voice to Strengthen Impact
As the fight to defend our automotive pursuits continues, the necessity of showcasing the SEMA Action Network’s (SAN) efforts to the specialty-equipment industry remains critical. SEMA-member businesses represent an integral component in successfully reaching lawmakers in the United States and Canada with a unified message on important legislation. You, your colleagues and customers can help guide the course of the future.
Each legislative session, the SAN tracks and responds to hundreds of legislative initiatives affecting the specialty-equipment industry and the consumers it serves. Some bills will not advance past introduction; others will go on to become the laws of tomorrow.
The U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 176 (S. Res. 176) designating July 12, 2013 as "Collector Car Appreciation Day." The Resolution was requested by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Councils. The date marks the fourth commemoration in what has become an annual event to celebrate and raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.
Thanks to the efforts of the National Association of Automobile Clubs of
Canada, Nova Scotia Premier Darrell E. Dexter issued a proclamation
designating July 2013 as “Automotive Heritage Month” in the province.
Collector Car Appreciation Day will be here sooner than you think! The SEMA Action Network (SAN) is maintaining and publicizing a list of scheduled events to commemorate America’s time-tested love affair with the automobile.
