The U.S. Department of Commerce named SEMA as one of the five recipients of the Market Development Cooperator Program (MDCP) for 2011. As a result, SEMA will receive $500,000 in matching funds over the next three years to support U.S. manufacturers that export automotive specialty-equipment products to booming emerging international markets. The grant is intended to stimulate U.S. exports of specialty-equipment products as part of the Administration's National Export Initiative, which aims to double U.S. exports by 2014 in support of several million U.S. jobs.
The 2011 SEMA Show will feature a one-day program specifically designed to teach car dealers best practices for integrating accessories at dealerships for increased revenue. Called Dealer Day, the program recognizes that accessories influence more than one million vehicle sales - a finding confirmed by a recent AutoPacific study.

at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Monday, October 31. The paid conference, sponsored by
eBay Motors, will kick off the SEMA Show (November 1-4) by gathering top
Internet marketing experts and educators from throughout the U.S. to share
their knowledge and proven strategies for online marketing success.
The deadline to submit a product for the SEMA Show New Products Showcase and
receive a discounted price is October 7. While the first product-category
submission is still free after October 7, each additional product category
submitted is $150 (as opposed to $75). Entries submitted onsite are accepted
based on space availability.
The SEMA Board of Directors recently approved a motion to decrease the size
of the Board. The initiative reflects their consensus that a smaller Board
would improve the quality of discussion and reduce cost, and is now being voted
upon by SEMA’s entire membership.
