A Packed Week for MPMC at the PRI Show

The Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) made the most of the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show in Indianapolis during December, gathering together some of the motorsports industry’s leading manufacturers. The day before the show officially opened, attendees had the opportunity to meet face to face with MPMC-member manufacturers for an education day packed with workshops on installations, new products, marketing, selling techniques and tips for running a successful high-performance business.

The mission of the Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) has always been to provide meaningful solutions to industry-specific issues and challenges. Within that context, MPMC directs its efforts toward providing its members with a forum in which to address industry-related issues, develop programs designed to meet the special needs of performance-parts manufacturers and offer new business and networking opportunities.

MPMC Hall of Fame, Class of 2013

Today, the MPMC Hall of Fame honors those who have made a significant contribution to MPMC and/or the motorsports parts manufacturing segment of the aftermarket. Each year, nominations are solicited from the MPMC general membership, and an MPMC Hall of Fame task force votes on the final selection of inductees based on stringent criteria. The formal induction ceremony will take place for this year’s honorees, detailed below, on Friday morning, December 13, at the Performance Racing Industry Show in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Meet The Newest MPMC Select Committee Members

The Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) welcomes two freshman members to its Select Committee this year. Manny Grijalva is the vice president of marketing and sales at MSD, and Robert Wityczak is an account manager from Magnaflow. MPMC Education Day at PRI

Earlier this year, the Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) and Performance Racing Industry (PRI) announced a new education program for the 2013 PRI Show in Indianapolis. Patterned directly after the already successful Hot Rod Industry Alliance Education Day for the hot rod segment, MPMC Education Day will feature 15 MPMC-member manufacturers presenting one-hour seminars to the buyers and race teams attending the PRI Show. “Many of the industry’s most recognizable manufacturers will offer face-to-face workshops on installations, new products, marketing, selling techniques and tips for running a business serving the high-performance industry,” said MPMC Chairman Vic Wood of Hedman. “Not only does this event provide an unparalleled educational experience, but it also allows attendees the opportunity to network and build relationships with industry leaders and peers. “

MPMC Shines at PRI

Hall of Fame The Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) formally inducted its Hall of Fame class of 2012 during a breakfast ceremony at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show in Orlando. For the third consecutive year, more than 100 industry professionals made the 8:00 a.m. call to see their colleagues receive the honors.

Media Trade Conference Moves to Orange County

“The LAX Embassy Suites in El Segundo, where we have held so many of these events, notified SEMA staff very early on that their facility would be under major renovations during the same time as our conference,” said MPMC Chairman Vic Wood of Hedman Performance. “We are grateful to them for being proactive with the information and allowing us time to search out alternatives. After careful research, staff suggested we move the event to the Santa Ana Embassy Suites. The facility offers different challenges but also different opportunities. We are very excited to try this new venue.”

MPMC Hall of Fame, Class of 2012

In 1994, a small group of original SEMA-member manufacturing companies formed the World Motorsports Society. Their goal was to refocus collective efforts specifically on issues facing motorsports parts manufacturers. Chuck Blum, then president of SEMA, quickly recognized the potential of a segment-focused group and brought it under the SEMA banner as the Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) in 1995.

MPMC Elections Bring New Select Committee Members

Chris Douglas of COMP Performance Group and Mike Crutchfield of Coker Tire are serving their freshman terms as Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) Select Committee members. Chris Fairless, the other new face on the committee, previously served as chairman of the Manufacturers’ Rep Council prior to moving to his current position at Magnaflow Exhaust. Fairless was unavailable at press time, but below are some comments from Douglas and Crutchfield.
