Collector Car Appreciation Day Honored Worldwide

On July 11, 2014, SEMA members joined with SEMA staff and thousands of enthusiasts to celebrate the fifth annual Collector Car Appreciation Day (CCAD). A wide range of official events were held in the United States, Canada and Australia to commemorate the special day.

Las Vegas Issues “Collector Car Appreciation Day” Proclamation

For the third consecutive year, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman and the Las Vegas City Council has issued a proclamation declaring “Collector Car Appreciation Day” in the city.

SEMA Secures U.S. Senate Resolution Designating July 11 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day”

The U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 493 (S. Res. 493) designating July 11, 2014, as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.” The Resolution was requested by SEMA and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) councils. The date marks the fifth commemoration in what has become an annual event to celebrate and raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.

California, New Mexico and Manitoba Issue “Collector Car Appreciation Day” Proclamations

California Senator Tom Berryhill and Assemblymember Franklin E. Bigelow issued a joint member resolution recognizing July 11, 2014, as Collector Car Appreciation Day, as a means to “draw special public attention to the importance of the collection and restoration of historic and classic cars to the preservation of our nation’s cultural heritage.”

A wide range of automotive events are held on the second Friday in July to honor Collector Car Appreciation Day (CCAD). At the request of the SEMA Action Network (SAN), this “holiday” has been marked each year since 2010 by a U.S. Senate Resolution recognizing that the “collection and restoration of historic and classic cars is an important part of preserving the technological achievements and cultural heritage of the United States.”

Collector Car Appreciation Day (CCAD) will return for its fifth commemoration, July 11, and SEMA-member companies are encouraged to recognize this annual celebration by hosting their own events.

SEMA and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization and Hot Rod Industry Alliance have announced that the next Collector Car Appreciation Day will be celebrated July 11, 2014. The date will mark the fifth consecutive commemoration in what is now an annual event to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society. The industry endeavors to preserve the nation’s automotive heritage while providing well-paying, high-skilled jobs nationwide. Collector Car Appreciation Day is a singular tribute to the collector-car industry and the millions of hobbyists it supports.
