Meet the 2013–2014 SEMA Board of Directors

Elected by the trade association’s membership at large, the SEMA Board of Directors is composed of industry leaders representing the wide spectrum of businesses found within the specialty-equipment aftermarket. “Board members volunteer considerable time, talent and effort to bettering the industry for all, from manufacturers to distributors, and from sales to service suppliers,” said SEMA President and CEO Chris Kersting. “We appreciate the dedication and insight that our Board of Directors brings to setting priorities for SEMA and addressing issues that promote industry growth.”

Annual Summit and Gala Mark Association’s 50th YearAs the specialty-equipment industry’s premier trade association, SEMA relies on elected volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors and in positions of council leadership. Representing every segment of the automotive aftermarket, these industry professionals are dedicated to the advancement of marketing, regulatory and business standards and practices that promote industry growth for all. In short, they are on the front lines identifying challenges and opportunities facing the industry and crafting policies and programs to address them. To support and recognize their efforts, SEMA holds a series of intensive Leadership Days events each year, with this year’s gathering held principally at the Sheraton Fairplex Conference Center in Pomona, California, July 24–25.

Annual Summit and Gala Mark Association’s 50th Year

Doug Evans Voted SEMA Chair-Elect; Two New Volunteers Join Board

Doug Evans of Source Interlink Media has been voted chairman-elect of the SEMA Board of Directors and joins two newly elected Board members to help lead the association for the 2013–2015 term. Evans fills the position held for the past two years by Nate Shelton of B&M Automotive Group. Shelton began serving his term as chairman in July. The newly elected SEMA Board volunteers are Kyle Fickler of Weld Racing and Tim Watts of Superlift Suspension. Jeff Bates of Bob Cook Sales was re-elected to serve another term.

A Few Words With Paul “Scooter” Brothers

An Interview With the Outgoing Chairman of SEMA’s Board of DirectorsAfter many years of service in a number of different roles, Paul “Scooter” Brothers took office as SEMA’s Chairman of the Board in 2011. His time in the Chairman’s seat has been marked by a successful transition through difficult economic times, fruition of a number of high-profile projects, and the building of momentum on new strategic initiatives that will benefit the industry for years to come.On Friday, July 26, SEMA will host its annual Installation Banquet & Gala Fundraiser, and Brothers will pass the leadership torch to SEMA’s new Chairman, Nate Shelton.
