Publications Help Auto Dealers Succeed

SEMA News—February 2011

It’s been a few years since SEMA began reaching out to educate auto dealers about the benefits of incorporating accessory sales into their businesses. The association has developed a series of best practices for dealers, launched a dedicated Dealer Day program at the annual SEMA Show and will be speaking at this month’s NADA convention in San Francisco, California.

These are all programs that help dealers better understand how to profit in this market. Dealers interested in learning more can read about accessories and the aftermarket in several industry publications. Below are a few recent articles that speak about this topic.

Automotive News

Editor-in-Chief Keith Crain reported in the November 8, 2010, issue that “there were plenty of ideas at SEMA to help a dealership maximize its new-car profit.” Coverage from the 2010 SEMA Show is included throughout that issue of the magazine, including several photos of vehicles that show just how today’s new cars and trucks can be customized to appeal to buyers’ interests. 

 

Canadian AutoWorld

Editor Lawrence Papoff shared with readers tangible tips that he learned after attending the 2010 SEMA Show’s Dealer Day program. His comprehensive coverage addresses subjects ranging from the best accessories to carry to when dealers should bring up the topic to customers, and even how to utilize social media in the effort.

The November 2010 issue featured the Boeckmann family, which owns Galpin Motors in Los Angeles. The article talked about how the dealership has embraced the SEMA industry and successfully incorporated an accessory sales program into its business.

Targeted to auto dealers, this monthly publication regularly features news about how dealers can successfully sell accessories. In its September/October issue, the publication helped readers prepare for the annual SEMA Show, including the relevant events and activities and providing details to help attendees maximize their time at the Show.
