1-in-4 Specialty Equipment Products Sold at Chain Stores

The August edition of the SEMA Consumer Demand Index is now available at www.sema.org/research. This month’s index is 42, down from 57 in July.

Some highlights of the August CDI include:

  • 11% of adult American drivers indicated plans to purchase aftermarket products within the next three months
  • Over the last three months, full-size cars were the most-common accessorized vehicle type at 19%
  • Over the last three months, chain auto parts stores were the most popular place-of-purchase choice for specialty-equipment products, at 24%
