SEMA's Market Research Department continuously engages in research activities in order to provide SEMA-member companies with the most significant and contemporary specialty-equipment industry information that they can use to make better business decisions. The research team regularly launches various automotive enthusiast, consumer and industry-professional surveys to gather the latest insights in past and future buying behaviors and demographics. In addition, the department surveys and interviews SEMA members, conducts consumer focus groups, and gathers information from OEM and enthusiast car shows in order to further understand the latest specialty-equipment trends. Information gathered on behalf of SEMA-member companies is used to publish reports and articles as well as to fulfill custom research requests available to SEMA members at no charge. The market research department also supports the Tech Transfer program which was launched in 2000. Tech Transfer is designed to provide SEMA manufacturing members with access to OEM part and specification data that can be used to design and build parts without reverse engineering.
