    Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) - SEMA CouncilThe Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) hosted its annual long-range planning meeting this past summer at the SEMA Garage Industry Innovations Center in Diamond Bar, California. The meeting was scheduled to coincide with the SEMA Garage open house and the annual Installation Gala, and members of the PRO select committee and a number of at-large members met and discussed issues, challenges and opportunities affecting restylers and accessory manufacturers.

Incumbents include Bob Carnahan; Dave Edmondson, Roadwire Inc.; Ginger Glover, Truckers Toy Store; and Ellen McKoy, EMK Marketing. Newcomers are Kimberly Callahan, Insignia Group; Mike Timmons, BedRug; and Steve Weimar, Rosen Entertainment Products.     On the morning of July 16, 2014, SEMA-member restylers, accessory manufacturers and retailers—all of whom are involved in the restyling industry—are invited to gather at the SEMA Garage–Industry Innovations Center in Diamond Bar, California, to discuss the current state of the industry and explore new opportunities for the future. This annual Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) long-range planning meeting is a chance for all employees of PRO-member companies and potential members to network and discuss industry-related issues. Attendees can help determine the focus and direction of the council for the next year and beyond.

    The SEMA Data Co-op (SDC) enhanced its product data management tools to make it easier and faster for auto accessory suppliers to process their files. The new tools, which were introduced last month, will reduce the time it takes to load and validate large files from days to hours.

    The photo cove in the SEMA Garage-Industry Innovations Center opened for business last month, as celebrity builders Pete Chapouris and Jimmy Shine of So-Cal Speed Shop utilized the studio to photograph a celebrated project car they are building for rock guitarist Billy Gibbons.

    Industry veteran Ira Gabriel has joined the SEMA executive team as VP of Marketing. The former publisher of Hot Rod Magazine will work from SEMA's headquarters in Diamond Bar, CA, where he will oversee strategic marketing initiatives for programs such as the SEMA Garage, SEMA Data Co-op, and the world-famous SEMA Show.

    A new report focused on the accessorization of utility task vehicles (UTVs, also known as side-by-sides) reveals that approximately 670,000 UTV models were sold in the United States in 2010-2012. Released by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the 62-page report provides auto accessory businesses with an understanding of the needs and purchase habits of UTV owners and aids in their marketing, sales and product development efforts.

    The SEMA Data Co-op is now helping more than 600 automotive specialty equipment Suppliers and re-sellers around the world standardize and manage their parts data to improve efficiency and increase sales, a 300 percent increase from August last year. The Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) is the trade organization representing the $31 billion automotive aftermarket industry.

    Students at Ohio Technical College (OTC) may be able to win a scholarship for a one-year tuition, valued at up to $29,400. The scholarship is part of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Memorial Scholarship Fund (SMSF), which encourages and supports those pursuing careers in the automotive aftermarket.

These activities give members a chance to connect with each other as well as share information about the benefits of council membership with Show attendees who are not a part of the group. When new members do join, council leadership does its best to help them get plugged in.

    Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) - SEMA CouncilThe Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) announced the recipients of four prestigious awards at its PRO Night Club event, held in the Oasis Lounge at the Las Vegas Hotel on November 5. The PRO Night Club was a break from the traditional industry reception and provided guests with a premier networking opportunity with a new format in a new, fun space.

    SEMA members that sell or distribute products can now obtain an unlimited number of Product Data exports from the SEMA Data Co-op (SDC), at absolutely no cost. The savings, available to any SEMA member receiver in the SDC, totals $1,200 per year and is the newest incentive for members to join the SDC.
