Twenty-four manufacturers turned up to measure the completely redesigned ’13 Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe, Civic EX Sedan and all-new Acura ILX 2.4L during last week's SEMA Measuring Session at American Honda's headquarters in Torrance, California.

Twenty-one manufacturers showed up to measure the ’13 Cadillac ATS, XTS and ’13 Chevrolet Spark during the Measuring Sessions at SEMA’s Diamond Bar, California, headquarters, September 5–6. Measuring Sessions provide manufacturers with hands-on access to new vehicles in order to gather surface data for designing, developing and manufacturing specialty equipment.

The SEMA Tech Transfer program has expanded with the addition of new CAD files for eight GM vehicles. The data-sharing program features thousands of files from participating OEMs—Chrysler, Ford, GM and Scion—and is open to SEMA manufacturing members free of charge.



New CAD files for eight GM and five Ford vehicles, as well as 2D prints of the starter for the Ford Big Block V8, have been added to SEMA Tech Transfer.

Scheduled to arrive next year, the ’13 Ford Escape is projected to debut with fuel economy up to 5 mpg better than the outgoing model, thanks in part to 10% better aerodynamics.

Several manufacturers got their hands on Mazda's all-new ’13 CX-5 during last week's SEMA Measuring Session at Mazda's headquarters in Irvine, California. With four CX-5 models available, manufacturers were eager to obtain the specs needed to prepare parts for a vehicle that is projected to be a hit with enthusiasts.

CAD files for seven GM vehicles have been added to SEMA Tech Transfer, further enhancing the data-sharing program that features thousands of files from participating OEMs—Chrysler, Ford, GM and Scion.

The SEMA Tech Transfer program has expanded with the addition of vehicle CAD files for the Chevrolet Avalanche and Corvette, Cadillac Escalade and SRX, and the Ford Escape, F-150, Super Duty and Taurus.

The SEMA Tech Transfer Program—which provides members access to vehicle CAD files from participating OEMs—has expanded its offerings with the addition of data files for the 2012 ZL1 Camaro.

The intent of SEMA’s Tech Transfer program, available exclusively to SEMA manufacturing members, is to minimize or completely eliminate the necessity of reverse engineering to produce products. The program houses a database of CAD files provided by participating OEMs, which currently includes Chrysler, Ford, General Motors and Scion.
