    The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) raised the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards for Model Year 2011 vehicles by about 2 miles per gallon (mpg) above the 2010 standards. The NHTSA will use an attribute-based system which sets CAFE standards for individual fleets of vehicles based on size, taking into account the differences between cars and light trucks (SUVs, pickups and vans).

    A RIDE: Ryan Hunter-Reay has landed a ride in the second Vision Racing IndyCar Series entry beginning with Sunday’s season opener in St. Petersburg, Florida.

    BIG WINNER: Earl Pearson Jr. claimed $50,000 for winning the Colossal 100 dirt-late-model race at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

    SECOND CHANGE: A new owner’s group is bringing the USAR Pro Cup Series (formerly Hooters Pro Cup) back to life. The revived series opens its season this Saturday at Concord (North Carolina) Speedway.

    A journalist from Pisteros magazine, an enthusiast publication in Argentina, is traveling to Los Angeles in April and is interested in interviewing SEMA members about innovative new products.
