Speed Networking Breakfast: Tips for Success!

Tip #1 - The SBN breakfast is great meeting place. Spread the word that you plan to attend the event, and catch up with colleagues before you sit down to breakfast.

Tip #2 - People attend the breakfast to make contacts. Don’t be shy - take advantage of the event and start networking the minute you arrive in the room.

Tip #3 - Bring a stack of business cards, a note pad, and your smart phone loaded with the QR code reader.

Tip #4 - Work the room before you sit down and be prepared to sit with people you don't yet know. (Each attendee will be assigned a table on-site.)

Tip #5 - Be ready to explain what you do in a minute or less, but don't launch into your sales pitch unless you hear the magic words "Wow, I need that."

Tip #6 - Wear your SEMA Show badge proudly (you’ll also need it to get into the room!). Besides your name and company, your badge identifies you as an exhibitor, buyer, manufacturer's rep, or member of the media. If you want to talk to buyers, for example, scan the room for “red” buyer badges.

Tip #7 - Make it easy for people to remember you. Add your company's web address or a QR code to your business card; as you meet people, write a reminder on your card that calls out what you do; like Automotive PR, Import Tuner Shop, performance exhaust, fabrication tools, numbers-matching restoration, OE suspension design and development…

Tip #8 - When you accept a business card, make your own notes on it to spark your memory once you get back to work.

Tip #9 - Help others make connections by introducing them to people they should know.

Tip #10 - If you want to be taken seriously, make sure to dress appropriately for our industry. Remember, t-shirts and flip flops work well in the home office, but business casual or nicer is an expectation at this event.

Tip #11 - Pick up your Speed Networking Breakfast swag bag in the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) Room N251, which is also known as the SEMA Member Lounge.
