The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the organization representing the $31 billion specialty automotive industry, opened phase two of its automotive innovation facility in Southern California today, in conjunction with Collector Car Appreciation Day.

SEMA Hot Rod Council to Present Education Day at 2014 Detroit Autorama

The annual SEMA Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Education Day will be held, for the first time, in conjunction with the Detroit Autorama – the 60-year old custom cars show taking place at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan, in March. The program will consist of 24 sessions, each led by a hot rod parts manufacturer educating attendees about the products’ features, benefits and installation guidelines.

SEMA HOT ROD COUNCIL TO PRESENT EDUCATION DAY AT 2014 DETROIT AUTORAMA

Are You the Next Great Automotive Innovator? The Young Executives Network Wants You to Prove It!

The SEMA Young Executives Network (YEN) is helping young entrepreneurs by announcing the first-ever “SEMA Launch Pad” competition. This new competition offers executive-level innovators under the age of 40 a platform to showcase their business plans for marketing new automotive products or services.Five finalists will have their business plans reviewed by industry leaders at the 2013 SEMA Show in Las Vegas in front of a live audience. The winning company will be awarded an array of prizes, including a 10x10-ft. booth at the 2014 SEMA Show, an ad in Hot Rod or 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine, a Family Events sponsorship, web design, graphic design and PR consultation packages and much more. Even entrants who don’t win may be promoted to thousands of industry professionals curious to learn more about their innovative products or services.

SEMA Again Secures U.S. Senate Resolution Designating July 12th As “Collector Car Appreciation Day”

The U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 176 (S. Res. 176) designating July 12, 2013 as "Collector Car Appreciation Day." The Resolution was requested by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Councils. The date marks the fourth commemoration in what has become an annual event to celebrate and raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.

New Research Shows $31 Billion in Automotive Parts, Accessories Sales

Sales of automotive specialty equipment products continue to climb, with sales in 2012 reaching $31 billion according to the 2013 SEMA Annual Market Report. The figure represents a four percent increase over the previous year, and marks the third consecutive year of growth.
