NHRA: Countdown Promises to Get Intense With Doubleheader at Texas Motorplex

The NHRA is serving up Texas Motorplex fans a double portion of the NHRA Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship playoffs.

NHRA: Pep Boys Named Title Sponsor of Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway

zMAX Dragway and NHRA officials announced The Pep Boys—Manny, Moe and Jack—will be the title sponsor when the NHRA returns, September 12–14, at the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Nationals—the first of the NHRA’s six-race playoffs, the NHRA Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship, which will be televised on ESPN2.

NHRA: Crampton, DeJoria, Gray, Krawiec Win 60th Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals

Alexis DeJoria raced past 16-time Funny Car world champ John Force Monday to win the 60th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals. Richie Crampton (Top Fuel), Shane Gray (Pro Stock) and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were first-time winners at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis—the last race of the regular season.

NHRA: Lucas Wins in Top Fuel; Funny Car, Pro Stock to Be Completed in Indy

Morgan Lucas raced to his third Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals Top Fuel victory in spectacular fashion Sunday to close out the rain-drenched NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event at Brainerd Int'l Raceway. The Funny Car final round between John Force and Ron Capps, along with the Pro Stock semifinals and final was postponed by NHRA officials due to darkness and inclement weather following a day filled with multiple rain delays.

NHRA: J. Force, Kalitta and Line End Western Swing With Victories

John Force earned his third win of the season by racing to the Funny Car victory at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries at Pacific Raceways.

NHRA: alBalooshi, C. Force, Line and Krawiec Take Home Wins in Sonoma

Khalid alBalooshi (Top Fuel), Courtney Force (Pro Stock), Jason Line (Pro Stock) and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) took home wins at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals—the second of three races in the Western Swing. In Top Fuel, alBalooshi piloted his Al-Anabi Racing dragster to a 3.912 at 309.42, defeating teammate Shawn Langdon. It was the second win of the season for alBalooshi, who celebrated his 35th birthday during race day, and fourth of his career.

NHRA: Johnson Continues Dominance of Denver; Todd, Hight and Hines Also Win

Allen Johnson in his Team Mopar Dodge Dart continued his dominance of Bandimere Speedway when he recordered his sixth win at the track in his eighth consecutive final-round appearance. J.R. Todd (Top Fuel), Robert Hight (Funny Car) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also took home wins at the event.

NHRA: Hagan Has Big Goals Heading Into Denver

Matt Hagan isn’t going to make any bold claims following his first win of the season. But heading into a crucial stretch of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season it was precisely the type of performance the Funny Car standout wanted to see.

NHRA: Brown, Force, Enders-Stevens, Hines Win in Ohio

BROWN, FORCE, ENDERS-STEVENS, HINES WIN IN OHIO: In a side-by-side final-round duel with longtime rival Ron Capps, NHRA Funny Car icon John Force picked up his 140th career win last Sunday at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals. Antron Brown (Top Fuel), Erica Enders-Stevens (Pro Stock) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were winners in Norwalk. In the championship round, Force powered his Castrol GTX High Mileage Ford Mustang to a performance of 4.113 seconds at 317.27 mph while Capps had a run of 4.135 at 305.56 in his NAPA Auto Parts Dodge Charger. Force, the reigning Funny Car world champion, earned his first-ever win at Norwalk and second of the 2014 season.

NHRA: Hagan, Brown, Nobile, Arana Jr. Race to Wins in Chicago

HAGAN, BROWN, NOBILE, ARANA JR. RACE TO WINS IN CHICAGO: Matt Hagan ended an 11-race winless streak in Funny Car with a victory last Sunday at the O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries. Antron Brown (Top Fuel), Vincent Nobile (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were winners at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event at Route 66 Raceway.
