The “Affordable Care Act” continues to sow confusion for many SEMA members. You may have read recently that the Obama Administration has delayed implementation of the employer mandate portion of the health care law. So, what does this development mean for you? While, larger SEMA companies will still be required to offer healthcare coverage in 2014, penalties for non-compliance won’t be enforced until 2015.

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the organization representing the $31 billion specialty automotive industry, opened phase two of its automotive innovation facility in Southern California today, in conjunction with Collector Car Appreciation Day.

SEMA Hot Rod Council to Present Education Day at 2014 Detroit Autorama

The annual SEMA Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Education Day will be held, for the first time, in conjunction with the Detroit Autorama – the 60-year old custom cars show taking place at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan, in March. The program will consist of 24 sessions, each led by a hot rod parts manufacturer educating attendees about the products’ features, benefits and installation guidelines.

2013 ARMO New HOT Product Showcase

The ARMO New Product Showcase became the ARMO “Hot” Product Showcase for 2013, and the simple name change paid immediate dividends in terms of participation. A record 71 products from 32 ARMO companies were on display at the event, which was held at Spring Carlisle April 25–27.“Everyone likes to see new products,” said ARMO Chairman Alex Tainsh. “But our overall participation from year to year was always dependent on which companies actually had a ‘new’ product. So we decided to change the name for 2013 to ‘Hot’ products. Instead of restricting a company to new stuff, we basically said: ‘Send us whatever it is you want to push; whatever is hot.’ It appears that the plan worked because we had record participation, and the products were as cool as ever.”
