NHRA: Popular Former Funny Car Driver Gordie Bonin Dies

POPULAR FORMER FUNNY CAR DRIVER GORDIE BONIN DIES: Former NHRA national event-winning Funny Car driver "240 Gordie" Bonin, the world championship runner-up in 1977, died November 29. He was 65. Bonin earned his famous nickname in the ’70s when his Bobble Up Trans Am was a steady performer in the 240-mph zone. Bonin had nine NHRA national event wins in his career and for six years served as NHRA's director of marketing services. Read more on this story

Racing News: Cameron Lawrence Takes Season Title in Trans Am TA2 Class

The NorthStar Battery CTEK Chargers 100 Race at Daytona International Speedway was held last month, and marked the final event for the 2013 Trans Am Racing Series. In addition to being the race’s title sponsor, the CTEK-sponsored Chevy Camaro, fielded by Miller Racing and driven by Cameron Lawrence, captured first place in the season-ending points total to become the 2013 Trans Am TA2 class overall champion after winning eight out of 10 races.

Formula DRIFT to Launch World Championship in 2015
Following the recent announcement of the merger between Formula DRIFT USA and Asia operations, Formula DRIFT has announced a World Championship series slated for 2015. Formula DRIFT will begin to operate a world championship that will be an integration of the Formula DRIFT USA and Formula DRIFT Asia operations. Current Formula DRIFT USA and Formula DRIFT Asia Pro Championships will continue to run as is with the World Championship as the over-arching pinnacle.
